‘The Boot’ to enter 2022 Cine Lebu official lineup

‘The Boot’, an Iranian short animation, has entered the 2022 official selection of the Oscar-qualifying El Festival Internacional de Cine de Lebu (FICIL) in Chile.

‘The Boot’, an Iranian short animation, has entered the 2022 official selection of the Oscar-qualifying El Festival Internacional de Cine de Lebu (FICIL) in Chile.

Seyyed Mohsen Pourmohseni Shakib’s animation will be competing at the upcoming edition of the FICIL which is slated for February 11-19, 2022 in Lebu, Chile.

A brief synopsis of the animation says, “A bird in a war-torn city, where there is nothing left but dead bodies, seeks food to feed its baby birds..."

Following his first shot animation ‘White Paper’ which participated at the Oscar-qualifying Guadalajara Int’l Film Festival in Mexico as well as the BAFTA qualifying Frameline: San Francisco Int’l Film Festival in the US, Pourmohseni Shakib made his second short animation ‘Game Over’ in 2012 about children and peace.

‘Game Over’ was screened at some 28 global film festivals, including the Academy Award-qualifying Int’l Animation Festival Chilemonos in Chile, the Seoul Int’l Youth Film Festival in South Korea and the Montréal Int’l Children's Film Festival in Canada.  

‘Oracle’ was Shakib’s third short animation about life and death which was made in 2016 and was screened at 12 film festivals such as the Bucheon Int’l Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea, the Cinema City Festival in Serbia and the Linoleum Int’l Contemporary Animation Festival in Ukraine.

In 2018, he made his fourth short animation ‘Ballsy: Story of a Revolution’ which was about fighting against a tyrant.

‘Ballsy: Story of a Revolution’ went on screen at the World Festival Of Animated Film, Varna in Bulgaria, the Tehran Int’l Short Film Festival in Iran and the Oscar-qualifying St. Louis Int’l Film Festival in the USA.

The Cine de Lebu is the only festival in Chile that qualifies short films for the Oscar Awards in the categories International Animation, Regional Fiction and International Fiction.
